The celebration will begin at noon at GHC’s Winn Building, located at 120 East Memorial Drive in Dallas, and is open to the public.
GHC President Dr. Mike Hobbs will welcome guests, followed by an invocation from Paulding County Board of Commissioners Chairman Tim Estes. The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office will lead the Pledge of Allegiance, and GHC Foundation Trustee Dr. Lance Barry will recognize members of the Winn family and special guests.
Lunch will include food from Big Doug’s Place.
Georgia Highlands College has proudly served students and families in Paulding County for nearly 20 years. GHC opened the Paulding instructional site near the Dallas town square in 2009, beginning a partnership with the community that has continued to grow and expand access to higher education in the region.
A major milestone in that history came in 2010 when Paulding County gifted GHC the Winn Building. The college later received $4.1 million in state funding through the fiscal year 2019 state budget to renovate the facility and transform it into a modern academic building.
Today, the Winn Building includes classrooms, a physical education lab, a chemistry lab, student lounges, study spaces, a faculty suite and an outdoor patio area, providing students with a comprehensive college experience in the heart of Dallas.
The transformation and continued growth of GHC in Paulding County have been made possible through the support of state and local leaders, the Paulding community and the Winn family, whose longstanding commitment to education has left a lasting impact on generations of students and families.
As part of the celebration, new signage will prominently display the name “Henry A. Winn” on the building and roadside sign, recognizing the Winn family legacy and its connection to education and the Paulding County community.
